The following holidays will affect the Trash, Yard Waste and Recycling Pickup during 2020:

*During the weeks which include these holidays above collection will be FRIDAY.

YARD WASTE MUST BE IN PROVIDED YARD WASTE CONTAINERS, CLEARLY MARKED CONTAINERS OR BUNDLES OF NO MORE THAN 4 FEET, IF THEY ARE IN BLACK BAGS THEY WILL NOT BE COLLECTED.
According to the Town of Elsmere Code: Municipal solid waste, yard waste and recyclables shall be placed in the appropriate area for collection no earlier than sunset of the day before the scheduled collection and no later than 6:00 a.m. on the day of the scheduled collection.
All containers must be removed to a point at the side or the rear of the property by no later than 7:00 p.m. on the day of the collection.
All containers that are collected through the rear alleyways of a residence shall only be placed just outside of the rear fence of the property in accordance with Subsection B(5) of this regulation and shall be removed to a point inside of the fence line by no later than 7:00 p.m. on the day of the collection.

Q: My trash, recycling or yard waste pick-up was missed, what do I do?
A: Waste Management has until 6:00pm on the day of collection to service all properties. Please do not contact the Town or Waste Management regarding a missed collection until the day after the scheduled pickup. The Town is happy to facilitate any missed collection reports directly with Waste Management. Please call or e-mail Melissa at Town Hall at 302-998-2215 or email@example.com.
Q: How do I dispose of Refrigerators, Tires and/or other Hazardous Items?
A: Please see the Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) calendar of events for Hazardous Material collection. Items not not included on the DSWA website, such as Tires, can be dropped off at the Cherry Island Landfill, you may contact the Citizens Response line at 1-800-404-7080 to confirm they will accept specific items and the location for drop-off.
Q: What do you do if you have more trash than will fit in one container?
A: You are permitted to use an additional container in the event that your newly issued container is full, this will be at no additional cost as long as the additional waste is not considered to be a bulk item.
Q: The notice says that you have to pay for Bulk Waste, what is classified as bulk waste?
A: “Bulk Waste” is considered to be items too large for regular pick up or an excessive amount of trash exceeding what could be considered a normal amount for each household. (Example: you would need a bulk waste pick up for furniture, appliances, carpeting, construction materials and if for some reason you have enough garbage to fill more than 3 garbage containers. These pick-ups must be scheduled through waste management and have an additional cost which is charged to you the resident.)
