The Elsmere Bureau of Police is
currently staffed by 11 Officers.
For the first time in nearly 4 years the Elsmere
Bureau of Police is fully staffed.
Current staffing consists
of the Chief of Police, Lieutenant, 1 Sergeant and 7 Patrol
Officers, 1 Recruit in Training Academy.

The job of an Elsmere Police Officer involves
responsibility for the protection of life and property,
prevention of crime, apprehension of criminals and the
general enforcement of laws and ordinances. Duties
normally consist of routine patrol, criminal
investigations and traffic regulations. The officer may
also be assigned as a detective, department training
officer, evidence technician, field training officer,
accident investigator and traffic officer. The employee
must be able to exercise sound independent judgment
under stress and the work may involve and element of
danger.

We
have added Crime Statistics for all districts to
our web site. These stats are broken down
monthly and by District. You will need Adobe
Reader. If you do not have it on your computer,
there is a link on the Crime Stats page to
download the necessary software.

Check out the
New Most Wanted Page. This page shows the names
and information on subjects currently Wanted by
the Elsmere Police Dept. If you have any
information regarding anyone on our Wanted page
please use our Tip page.

We have also
added a page to submit tips to the Elsmere
Police Dept. These tips are anonymous unless you
put your name into the form. If you do not want
to be known please do not place any identifying
information about yourself into the form. Fill
out all of the information that you know and
click Submit.
Do not
use this for Crimes in Progress Immediately Dial
911!!!!!

With the summer fast approaching
we have added to our website a Property Check
Request. If you are going on vacation for more
than one day, or a residence owned by you is
going to be vacant for a long period of time use
this form to advise the Police Department and
request Property Checks of your residence.

GRAFFITI Task
Force |
| The
Elsmere Police Dept along with other departments
in New Castle County has initiated the New
Castle County Graffiti Task Force. This Task
Force has been compiled of officers from
Elsmere, New Castle County, DSP, Newark, U of D,
New Castle City, Newport, Wilmington,
Middletown, CSX Police, State Fire Marshall, P&P
and Delaware City.
Graffiti in New Castle County will not be
tolerated and offenders will be prosecuted.
Holding offenders responsible for the damage
caused by painting and marking personal and
governmental property.

information on Drug Activity or Crime Tips in the Town of
Elsmere contact the Elsmere Police Department at (302)
998-1173 all information is confidential.
Please do not call the
number above for criminal reports and crimes in
progress, call 911. Officers are patrolling the streets
and are not in the office to answer your calls.
Officers are dispatched
through RECOM. Call 911 and give the call takers the
information. Officers will be dispatched on a priority
basis.
